Ferber, Edna
(15 ago. 1887, Kalamazoo, Mich., EE.UU.–16 abr. 1968, Nueva York, N.Y.).

Novelista y cuentista estadounidense. A los 17 años inició su carrera como reportera en Wisconsin. Sus primeros cuentos se recopilaron en Emma McChesney & Co. (1915) y otros volúmenes. Se ganó el aprecio de la crítica con novelas como Así de grande (1924, Premio Pulitzer) y Teatro flotante (1926); esta última, con música de Jerome Kern, tuvo una gran influencia en el teatro musical norteamericano. Entre sus últimos libros se cuenta la novela Gigante (1952; versión cinematográfica, 1956). Ferber ofrece un vívido y sentido retrato de la clase media del Medio Oeste norteamericano.
